This company, DOUBLE GLAZING SHOP LTD, was taken to court by a couple in Chelmsford because they were missold windows, and had servere issues with the fitting of them.

They won their case.

The judge found in their favour, but the company subsequently closed leaving them hi and dry without finishing the work, just extra costs.

Being afraid that double glazing sales people would bamboozle them, they bought windows they liked off the internet thinking they were cheaper and cutting out the middle man.In fact DG shop Ltd were middlemen, they didnt make the windows they just bought them from a manufacturer like most installers.

They were shown a brochure and agreed to buy the windows shown to them, but subsequently found they were not the ones they thought they were getting.

The company was not a member of the GGF or DGCOS. had they been then their job would have been finished under their warranty schemes. This would have saved them thousands in legal fees

Instead they were left with Worthless guarantees, no IBG's , just holes arround the windows and lots of tears

The story was featured on BBC news and Cowboy trap, when a sash manufacturer made them new sash windows for free and a local installer replaceced them correctly and fitted new stone cills.

The house was totally transformed and they were delighted but VERY lucky to have been helped in this way.

The moral of the story, they thought they were getting good windows cheaper because it was an internet company, What they got was two years of hassle, tears and legal wrangles
